“Arise, anoint him; for this is he.”
‘Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers;” 1 Samuel 16:12,13 NASB
Years later . . . “The then men of Judah came and there anointed David king over the house of Judah.” 2 Samuel 2:4 NASB
Some time later . . . “So all the elders of Israel . . . then they anointed David king over Israel. David was thirty years old when he became king.” 2 Samuel 5:4,5 NASB
I was sure I was going in May; yet, I hadn’t bought my plane ticket yet. Something kept postponing my purchase.
Then this past Friday night I receive an email regarding my Immersion in May – to meet via Zoom with the Holy Yoga Training Leadership along with my fellow Immersionites {I just made that up}. Before the meeting, I already knew what was going to be said – May’s Immersion is canceled.
But it’s not. It’s Postponed. I still get to Geaux!!! {Sorry, South Louisiana gal here!}
I thought I was so ready to go in May but once the reality set in, I realized I wasn’t. I’m not ready.
Gracefully God answered a prayer I didn’t know I needed – one of More Time. More time to study, to practice; more time to fully immerse myself in Holy Yoga before I arrive in November to the actual Immersion Week fully anticipating what God postponed me to experience.
While this whole experience with the Covid-19 Virus – of things being cancelled or Postponed – probably has brought a lot of anxiety upon peoples’ hearts. These postponements bring a struggle no one was ready for. Not even David was ready when his kingship was postponed. There were things he needed to learn before he would be able to serve as King of Israel. Had David become King immediately, it’s possible Goliath would have won the battle.
I want to encourage you during these times of Postponements to think that maybe the postponements are a good thing. Maybe God is trying to teach us something. Maybe God is trying to ensure we’re ready to do what He has called us to do. Maybe – in the waiting for the postponed date – He’s wanting to draw us closer to Him – to sit and soak up His presence. To move our bodies in a slower pace. To think during times of meditation not of what we should be doing but what He is asking us to do.
I don’t know if God brought this World-Wide Virus upon us, but I do know that if we take the time to participate in the Postponements, we’ll come out a better person because of it.
I know in my own postponement so far, it has brought a change in my thinking and doing; it has brought a longing to know Him better; a longing to practice what I want to teach – both physically and spiritually. What has your postponement brought?
