Less

As I sit here on my chair reflecting on my new goal this morning of #WordBeforeWorld, I’ve come to realize that my life in 2018 was crazy.

2018 was a busy year for me.  My youngest came home from college after a long two years of school in Orlando, FL.  My oldest is in the midst of buying his first home meaning I will be half a nest empty sometime this year.  The thought of that brings good and sad emotions.

Several things at work changed but work I love so all changes were for the better.  I’m blessed to work for a wonderful company who values the employees like they are family.

But 2019 is going to bring some changes to my life.

All last year I had this feeling of having to get rid of things – from junk in my house to how I spend my time, so when December rolled around and I started thinking of my One Word for 2019, the word Less kept popping up.

Less – it’s not a word people typically choose for their One Word; however, it’s mine for this year. Now, thing in my life gets chosen without a reason or backup from Scripture so as I pursued the Scriptures looking for a “verse” with the word Less in it – nothing could be found.  Yet, God knows what He’s doing.

Though the word Less is not specifically in this verse, it fits my heart’s desire for this year of 2019.

My One Word of Less brings so much more when it’s in reflection of the word decrease.  I’ve chosen this verse as the one to guide my life this year.  I must decrease so He can Increase.

God works in mighty and mysterious ways that He even confirmed my One Word this morning as I was reading Genesis Chapter One.

Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness covered the surface of the watery depths, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.” Genesis 1:2 CSB*

As I continued to read Genesis Chapter One, my One Word – Less – became clear.  In the beginning, there was Less things on the earth.  God created the sun, moon, and stars out of Less.  He created the animals and mankind out of Less.  By the time I got to the end of Genesis 1, He had comforted by heart and mind saying, “Where there is Less, I can create things, bless you, and grow you.”

Less.  He Must Increase so I Must Decrease. It’s the theme of my year.  Walk with me this year as I learn to decrease.  Walk with me as I learn to be Less.  It’s going to be a Sacred Halak.

Happy New Year!  May your 2019 bring you all the joys and happiness of your heart’s desire.

I want to know!  Do you have a One Word for 2019?  Would you share it? I’ll be praying your One Word guides you.
